I’d say it was not even a month ago: I spent my morning selling Toys and Books, and my evening serving collard greens and duck breast. Upon arriving home, weary, ready for the futon, a Mike’s Light, and some Golden Girls, I saw it: a giant, Clockwork Orange-style smear of mascara under my left eye.

Huge.

Black.

Noticeable.

How long had it been there? Had people seen it? Had I scared the little kids at my morning job, then the elderly diners at night? Surely this was not a recent development. Were people just too nice to say something? Were they horrified?

The lesson learned here, kids, is: Check the mirror sometimes.

Back to the pressing topic, though, I love eye makeup. Makeup in general, really, but if bitch has huge eyes, bitch ought to accentuate them.

This year, as for the last few years running, OpiuMom gave me new makeup for Christmas (Stila — far better than my own semi-ployment affords me), and I find myself thinking that I could canoodle myself into a stylist position somewhere. Then again, this type of wishful thinking may be a direct result of said semi-ployment, but I digress.

A few related points:

Though there are more impactful mascaras, nothing beats Maybelline Great Last Blackest Black, chiefly because when one inevitably fails to wash one’s face before crashing to bed, it does not leave your face gunked up in the a.m.
Beauty fades; glitter does not.
Don’t set the makeup gun to ‘whore’.
I actually rather hate lipstick.

Never underestimate the importance of the eyelash curler.

As soon as I procure steady employment, and therefore money, I shall buy a larger makeup case, Pink, or metal. Pink metal, if possible.
